This tune is referred to as both Planxty George Brabazon and George Brabazon, Second Air. Since the word planxty seems to defy simple definition, this may be understandable. Planxty or not, this O'Carolan piece...was probably composed toward the end of Carolan's career. The subject of the drinking song is George Brabazon of New Park, in the barony of Gallen and parish of Kilconduff, County Mayo...according to the excellent Contemplator site (which seems to side with the forces of non-planxtyism). This guitar arrangement came from listening to the hammered dulcimer version by John McCutcheon. It was pulled together a few...er...several...oh, all right, many years back for the wedding of my friends, Chris and Steve. Recorded by Nick Kroes
