My dad, Ken Kroes, recently built a new bridge for the bass used on this Ray Charles composition, which was learned from the playing of Dave Van Ronk. Before Dad's contribution, this bass sounded like no more than a dull thud in the background of a recording - like some poor soul banging on his wall to get the idiot musician next door to quiet down. Not that that sound will disappear, but now it won't be confused with the bass. Recorded by Nick Kroes
